Dear Champion of Sustainability,

I am writing to ask you to support Sustainable Pittsburgh by becoming a member. Make a statement about your

commitment to turn the vision of sustainability into action. Sustainable Pittsburgh, a nonprofit organization, serves a critical

role in accelerating sustainable development as the framework for integrated decision-making and investments for a more

prosperous Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Please take a few minutes to review the enclosed pamphlet describing a sampling of our core areas of focus and projects.

By becoming a member you will directly support our public policy and education accomplishments.

Here are some of our key initiatives for 2006:

Community Revitalization Forums around the 10-county region will advance community redevelopment by providing

technical assistance and building consensus on policy options to renew Southwestern Pennsylvania - hosted in partnership

with Regional Coalition of Community Builders, Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission, and University of Pittsburgh

Institute of Politics.

The Sustainable Communities 500 project will identify and highlight examples of sustainable development in each

municipality in the 10-county region in partnership with the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission and Governor's

Center for Local Government Services. Each municipality will receive a sustainability checklist that can be used as a

decision-making tool and to characterize their examples for inclusion in our new database-driven website for the project.

Developer/Planner Roundtable discussions with developers and municipal planners will pinpoint and address barriers to

achieving sustainable development in the region.

Sustainable Business Solutions venture to task a team of experts to conduct sustainability assessments of businesses to

recommend triple-bottom line means to cut costs, increase revenues, and enhance corporate social responsibility to the

community.

Mon Valley Planning Assistance will aid a number of communities through planning technical assistance and impact

mitigation to optimize economic opportunity in anticipation of the Mon-Fayette Expressway.

We need your membership to sustain us - with your generosity, Sustainable Pittsburgh can continue to educate and shape

policies at the decision-making table that affect our region, our resources, and our future. Please use the enclosed

brochure to become a member today.

Sincerely,

Court Gould
