In western Pennsylvania, there are already many examples of individuals, communities, and businesses undertaking projects that integrate economic prosperity, social equity, and environmental quality. Projects include construction of retail/residential developments on old industrial properties, restoring dilapidated houses and making them available to those of low to moderate income, and giving community members the chance to participate in development decisions for their neighborhoods and towns. What follows is the first "Spotlight on Sustainability," a periodic series that will focus on what we're doing right in this region, instead of merely pointing out what's being done wrong.

If you know of a project worth featuring in "Spotlight on Sustainability," please let us know by e-mailing info@sustainablepittsburgh.org.
