Topic Teams are forums through which Affiliates can work to further their agendas and/or create new projects to advance sustainable development. Affiliates are invited to participate in the Topic Team(s) of their choice. More teams may be added at a later date.
The teams will be encouraged to identify specific priorities and projects to be undertaken.
As the Affiliates begin their work, we ask them to keep the following overall policy goals in mind:

Raise public awareness around the concept of sustainable development;

Establish sustainable development as the region's chief development and competitiveness strategy;

Mainstream the use of sustainability indicators in decision-making at the local and regional level;

Engage the public to participate in key decisions in their locality;

Establish sustainability as a central concern in policy development; and
-
Promote sustainable concepts to the business community as an opportunity to increase competitiveness and contribute to quality of life.
